Technology Classrooms--migration to Active Directory completed 10/7/13-10/8/13

Beginning March  2013, ITS will be upgrading core infrastructure and rolling out Active Directory to replace Novell.

Active Directory will improve your computer experience: closer to single sign on, account self-service, and  no more double logins for labs and classrooms.

IT Services will be sending out communications over the coming weeks letting you know:

  • What we will be doing and what to expect
  • What we need you to do and by when
  • What the system will be like after the changes
  • Where to get your questions answered and any help you need

Active Directory Account Activation

Computers in Lane Library, Solms Hall 104, University Hall 112, Science Center 129, and Learning Commons must be accessed using your Active Directory credentials.  Classroom and other lab computers will be updated this summer and fall.

Faculty and Staff

As part of the Active Directory implementation,  we need you to activate your account. To do this please click the following link  AD Account Activation and set your password. This account will be required to access Armstrong resources including your desktop computer and lab computers for summer and fall term. (Don’t worry your existing Novell files will be migrated!)

Computers in Lane Library, Solms Hall 104, University Hall 112, Science Center 129, and Learning Commons must be accessed using your Active Directory credentials.  Classroom and other lab computers will be updated this summer and fall.

Faculty and Staff office computers are beginning to be converted to AD summer 2013. As we will begin moving resources into the Active Directory environment and your AD credentials will be required to access your workstation as we begin moving them into the Active Directory environment.  We will contact departments prior to migrating the workstations in their area. Once again, if you do not activate your AD Account and we migrate your department, you will not have access to your computer.

If you use an Apple computer, there is no client to alter on your computer. Instructions on how to access your data will be provided at a later date. Until then, there is no change in the way you currently access your information. The AD environment will provide file access for Apple computers.

If you use a Unix based operating system, please contact us for more specific instructions.
