Repairs to the Armstrong Center Electronic Sign

Aug 19, 2013, 05:54 pm - Becky Smith

We are currently experiencing a delay with the repair of the existing electronic sign at the Armstrong Center.  The sign has reached the end of its useful life.  The electronics for the sign have succumbed to the Savannah climate elements (heat and humidity) and therefore must be replaced.

Contracts have been awarded to AAA Sign Company and Daktronics to provide new LED displays and supporting electronics.  Due to the sign structure design, the new LED displays are being designed for service and access from the face of the sign.  The Daktronic electronic components are designed for exterior use in temperature and humidity ranges comparable to the Savannah climate.

Our new LED panels and accessories are in the Daktronics' factory production schedule and currently are expected to ship by mid-September.  The LED panels will be shipped to AAA Sign Company who will remove the existing sign panels and install the new components once they arrive.

The end of September is the target date to have the newly renovated sign up and operational.
