The Honors Program offers talented and motivated students the chance to take advanced and smaller classes. Students will be encouraged to creatively apply their intellectual curiosity to independent projects or special classes in their majors. Eligibility for these Honors ALCs will be determined by the Director of the Honors Program, based on program eligibility requirements as outlined on the Honors Program web site.

Residential Learning Community
In a Residential Learning Community, students with similar interests and goals have the opportunity to live together and study together in a residential hall. The Education Residential Learning Community in Windward Commons is designed especially for students who are interested in becoming teachers or in exploring the idea of education as a college major.  The goals are for the students who live in this community include:

1) Making friends and colleagues for life (living together is different from just having a class or two together.)  Students who live in a residential learning community are more likely to stay in contact with the friends they make in this community throughout their lives, both professionally and personally

2) Connecting with faculty mentors.  Students in the Education Residential Learning Community have access to a designated advisor and faculty mentors (who also teach classes in the residence hall) as well as a graduate student, who is available to help with homework or other academic and “college-negotiating” issues.

3) Experiencing profession-related activities before they begin their major, through Residential Learning Community activities.

Students in this RLC will enroll in EDUC 2110 - Investigating Critical and Contemporary Issues in Education.
