Dr. Anne Thompson
Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty
Prior to her appointment as Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, Dr. Anne Thompson served as the Interim Department Chair in Physical Therapy. She has served as a faculty member at Armstrong since 1994.
Dr. Thompson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the College of William and Mary, Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Duke University, and Doctor of Education degree from Georgia Southern University.
Dr. Thompson’s teaching interests include clinical education, documentation, reimbursement, ethics, legislative issues, leadership, spinal cord injury, post-polio syndrome, and orthotics. She is certified by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a Basic and Advanced Clinical Instructor Trainer. She also teaches continuing competency courses annually in ethics and jurisprudence for physical and occupational therapists.
The Student Government Association awarded Dr. Thompson the H. Dean Propst Award for 1999-2000 in recognition of her dedication to students. Dr. Thompson has served as the faculty advisor for the Physical Therapy Club and in the new student orientation program throughout her time at Armstrong. Additionally, Dr. Thompson has served as the President of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia and continues service as a member of the Nominating Committee, Executive Board, and as Federal Legislative Key Contact.
