Savannah Winds to Present Annual Patriotic Concert on June 29

(June 25, 2014) — Savannah Winds will conclude its season with the Annual Patriotic Concert at Armstrong State University on June 29.

Savannah Winds is a community orchestra based at Armstrong. This year, the concert’s theme is “In Celebration of our Independence” and will feature a wide variety of music, from John Philip Sousa’s marches to Irving Berlin’s famous compositions to Lee Greenwood’s country songs.

The orchestra will honor U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. (Ret.) Robert Cutler, the Chatham County Veterans Council’s Veteran of the Year, with a special tribute. Maj. Gen. John Murray, commanding general of the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, will also perform a patriotic narration as Savannah Winds perform “America, the Beautiful.”

“This is a fantastic annual event we always look forward to,” says Mario Incorvaia, arts marketing director for Armstrong. “The Annual Patriotic Concert showcases musical talent in the area and shines a spotlight on the men and women who bravely serve our country.”

Because of the popular nature of the concert, attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. Call 912.344.2556 to purchase tickets or to make special seating arrangements.
