Megan Feasel is New Director of Student Recreation Center
(Nov. 9, 2013) – Armstrong Atlantic State University recently promoted Megan Feasel to director of the Student Recreation Center. In her new position, she is responsible for overseeing operations of the Student Recreation Center at Armstrong and managing the university’s fitness and wellness programs, intramurals, sport clubs and outdoor recreation.
Feasel brings 11 years of experience to her new position and has served as Armstrong’s assistant director of fitness and wellness since joining the university in 2008. Over the past five years, she helped lead the Student Recreation Center and expanded the group fitness program to include more than 50 class offerings each week and 25 group exercise instructors.
In addition, she launched Armstrong’s Personal Training Program, Wellness and Outdoor program and organized the annual Health and Wellness Fair, which features 50 outside vendors and more than 700 participants.
Originally from Mount Vernon, Ohio, Feasel earned a Masters in Public Administration with a focus in Anatomy and Physiology and a B.A. in Communications from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She completed her Strength and Conditioning Certification at Armstrong in 2010, and is currently finishing a master’s degree in Exercise Science at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga.
Feasel’s career has been defined by a lifelong commitment to fitness, wellness and leadership. She attended college on a full NCAA Division One athletic scholarship for cross country and track at Wright State University, serving as team captain for two years. In 2012, she raced in the Boston Marathon, finishing in the top 9 percent overall for women. She also is involved in Savannah’s health and fitness community, teaching group exercise classes and providing personal training at the Habersham YMCA and the Southside YMCA.
Feasel is a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Certified Yoga Fit Instructor, Certified Recreational Sports Specialist and Peak Pilates Basic Mat Certified Instructor. She is certified by the American Academy of Sports Dietitians and Nutritionists and recently completed her TRX certification.
