Jack Kingston to Give Keynote Address at Commencement


(April 29, 2011) Armstrong Atlantic State University will hold its spring 2011 commencement ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 7 in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Arena in the Savannah Civic Center, 301 West Oglethorpe Avenue. The Honorable Jack Kingston, U.S. Representative for the First District of Georgia (biography), will deliver the keynote address.

Approximately 703 degree candidates will be on hand, representing the university's College of Education, College of Health Professions, College of Liberal Arts and the College of Science and Technology. The university will award approximately 517 undergraduate degrees, 164 graduate degrees and 20 Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees. Armstrong President Linda M. Bleicken and senior members of the university administration will confer the diplomas.

The Armstrong Wind Ensemble, conducted by Mark B. Johnson, will provide the musical accompaniment. Lucinda D. Schultz, professor of music, will lead the audience in the singing of the national anthem and the university alma mater.
