Armstrong Hires Ann Heiny as Director of First Year Experience
(March 13, 2014) — Armstrong Atlantic State University recently hired Ann Heiny as the university’s new director of first year experience. In her new position, Heiny is responsible for the strategy and execution of cultivating positive relationships for first year students at Armstrong.
Before joining Armstrong, Heiny served as department chair of Foundations of Success and interim dean at Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana. At Ivy Tech, she collaborated with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs offices to improve student retention through strategic initiatives and served as program chair for Student Success courses including the First Year Seminar and New Student Seminar.
Heiny also has 10 years of experience in the counseling field, including four years as a clinical supervisor. She earned a B.S. degree in Psychology from Manchester College and a M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Indiana State University.
