Armstrong Earns Military Friendly Designation
(Dec. 18, 2012) Armstrong has earned a military friendly designation by MilitaryVetJobs.com, an organization committed to helping veterans find careers after service. The designation commends universities for their dedication to helping military veterans.
Armstrong has also been ranked as military friendly by G.I. Jobs magazine in their Military Friendly Schools List for both 2012 and 2013, which recognizes the university for its support of active military and veteran students.
“Being recognized as a military friendly institution gives our military students confidence in attending Armstrong,” said Laura Pellini-Bolton, veteran’s affairs coordinator at Armstrong. “They are assured that Armstrong dedicates facilities, staff, and resources specifically for military members, veterans, and their families. With this designation they know that we support them in achieving their educational and career goals.”
In addition to providing a supportive campus environment for military students, Armstrong is also part of a network of universities that guarantees transferability of credits for military students, provides in-state tuition for members of the military and their families, and offers college credit for military experience. The Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) consortium of colleges and universities is dedicated to helping military students and their families earn college degrees.
As a complement to its main campus in Savannah, Ga., Armstrong operates the Liberty Center in Hinesville, Ga., which is dedicated to helping members of the military and their families pursue higher education and earn college degrees in key fields.
