AASU Senior Luciana Tobal Earns Scholarship

(November 23, 2009) The Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation awarded a scholarship to Luciana Tobal, an Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) senior majoring in Spanish.

Tobal, who maintains a 3.9 GPA, received the award during a ceremony on the AASU campus in November. In attendance to recognize Tobal, were Fred Kitchens, executive director of the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation; Bud Lawyer from Empire Distributors; and Henry Monsees from Savannah Distributors.

Also in attendance were AASU President Linda Bleicken; State Rep. Ann Purcell, who is also chair of the board of the AASU Foundation; State Senator Buddy Carter; and Holly Arena, a student in the AASU Master of Arts in Liberal and Professional Studies program.

Created in 1964, the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Foundation has provided nearly 1,000 scholarships for students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend college. The foundation awards full-tuition scholarships to non-research universities and colleges in the University System of Georgia.
