AASU Star Student Selected for National Fellowship
(August 5, 2009) Adrian Anderson, a recent graduate of the Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) program at Armstrong Atlantic State University, has been selected for a two-year, post-graduate, administrative fellowship with Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP) at their Youngstown, Ohio location.
A Richmond Hill resident, Anderson will be involved in operational as well as strategic initiatives related to the Youngstown facility and the national Catholic Health Partners system. She will have the opportunity to interact and work in tandem with senior-level executives at the local, regional and national level to plan, develop, execute and evaluate strategic initiatives for CHP Health System.
"Adrian has excelled at virtually everything she has undertaken since coming into the field of health services administration in 2006," said Joey Crosby, AASU professor and graduate coordinator of the MHSA program.
Anderson completed her MHSA degree in December 2008 and is on track to receive a second graduate degree from AASU, a master's in public health, in December 2009. She has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout her coursework at AASU.
During her academic career, Anderson has received a number of recognitions and professional awards including the Bugbee-Falk Award, sponsored by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration. She completed an administrative internship with Duke University Medical Center during the summer of 2007 and was selected to represent the AASU MHSA program at two national health administration case competitions in 2007 and 2008. The National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Health System sponsored those events.
"She was our first Duke intern, one of our first case competition participants at both UAB and NAHSE, and one of the few students who have completed the program with a perfect 4.0 GPA over the years," said Crosby. "This fellowship award attests to her exemplary performance and future potential as a leader in the field."
