AASU Debuts 75th Anniversary Web Site
(February 5, 2010) A newly created Web site is helping AASU officials kick off the celebration of the university's 75th anniversary of its founding in 1935. The Web site—75.armstrong.edu—will serve as a place for alumni to come together and share their memories of Armstrong through the decades.
The site will include information about special events planned throughout 2010 to commemorate the anniversary and offer glimpses of Armstrong throughout its history from archival material obtained from the university's Lane Library.
"As we launch our 75th anniversary, we extend a warm invitation to all alumni to join with students, faculty and staff in celebrating our history, accomplishments and the future of Armstrong Atlantic State University," said Beth Crovatt, AASU alumni relations coordinator.
Alumni also are encouraged to submit their comments and memories to the AASU alumni Facebook page. A link to the alumni pages is found on the AASU homepage.
AASU's 75th Anniversary celebration kicks off with the Masquers theatre troupe production of the musical comedy Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels from February 18-21, followed by Homecoming Weekend February 22-27.
In April, university students, faculty and staff will cut the ribbon on a new Student Union on campus and later in the year a new freshmen residence hall will open in time for the fall semester.
