About this event:
The Armstrong Masquers theatre troupe reprises its summer hit production of Agatha Christie's hallowed 1943 murder mystery play, And Then There Were None.

Best-selling mystery novelist and British "Queen of Mystery" Dame Agatha Christie, who wrote Murder on the Orient Express,The Mystery of the Blue Train, Murder at the Vicarage, Partners in Crime and Sad Cypress was also a noted playwright and romance author. Her play The Mousetrap, which opened in 1952 and ran uninterrupted for nearly 9,000 performances, holds the record for longest unbroken run in a London theater. In 1943 Christie adapted for the stage her world's best-selling mystery novel maintaining its baffling twists and surprises throughout all but the heartening new ending.

Christie set her suspenseful masterpiece in a house on an island off the coast of Devon, United Kingdom. The drama unfolds when statuettes of little soldier boys resting on a mantel begin to fall to the floor and break one-by-one as those in the house - all strangers to each other, and each who has something to hide - succumb to a diabolical avenger. A nursery rhyme played tells in non-stop excitement how each of the ten soldiers met his death until there were...

Mellen, an ardent fan of the "whodunit" spoke of directing Christie's epic mystery saying "I enjoy the unfolding process of a well-constructed, chilling suspense play. And Then There Were None is the quintessential example of murder mystery slight-of-hand. It's a fun challenge for the audience to guess the outcome, so our challenge is to create realistic possibilities that every actor on stage is the culprit."
