Armstrong music faculty member Emily Grundstad-Hall, D.M.A, soprano, presents a faculty music recital at 7:30 p.m.

Her program is highlighted by Samuel Barber's nostalgic Knoxville: Summer of 1915, and includes enchanting music by Bach, Rossini, Rachmaninoff, and Vidales. She is assisted by Andrew Ripley, oboe, as well as Armstrong's Kevin Hampton, D.M.A. piano, and Stephen Primatic, D.M.A., vibraphone.

Grundstad-Hall holds both the master of music and doctorate of musical arts degrees in vocal performance from Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the bachelor of music education degree from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. She is an active performer and can often be heard in recital and oratorio throughout the country.

Recent performances include presenting songs of American composer, Charles Griffes in recital with Austin, Texas pianist, Lynda Oswalt, as well as the soprano solos for Mozart Requiem with the Oklahoma City Ballet.

She has sung many leading opera roles such as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and Amy in Adamo’s, Little Women.

She can also be found on various musical theater recordings with the company, StageStars Records of New York, NY. With her cast, Grundstad-Hall was nominated for “Best Ensemble Cast” by Innovative Theater Awards for her role as Yum-Yum in the New York City theater, Theatre TenTen’s, production of, The ‘Singapore’ Mikado.

Grundstad-Hall also has associations with the Grammy nominated, Austin, Texas based choir, Conspirare under the direction of Craig Hella Johnson, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale under the direction of Joshua Haberman and has also been a regional finalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
